The Smoking Tire

I am a simple guy, I like my cars fast, my work simple and the less reading the better. I like knowing about the latest cars coming out, what is happening in the car world, tips on how to maintain my car, what do the professionals use or recommend. The Smoking Tire is just a bunch of viral video's keeping up to date with the latest car news. They have links to youtube, have car reviews of the most exotic cars that I will probably never get to drive and how they stack up to other super cars. They have segments on car shows, race tracks around the world, tips on how to do professional tricks with your car, how to be a better and smarter driver.

From a student copywriters' point of view there website isn't at all anything special. It is there viral video's that keep pulling me back in week after week. There website is an extension of a fun site in a sense I guess. It is more of extension of three other sites all about car news but it's main focus is on the actually car, on the street, and test driving the newest cars on the market They have many sponsors and always mention them when possible.

There are a ton of improvements they can make from simple actual copywriting such as where to get started, categorizing their video's into more simple terms just the visual set up. You enter the website click on a video, maybe watch the video than it brings you to different websites and you never really return until a day, a week later.

Like I said before I am a man of simple taste so when I have some free time I just hop on the web site and even though it's not an impressive website it provides me with entertainment and up to the date news on the latest cars.

A Changing World

As the world changes advertising changes with it. Advertising is seen everywhere from traditional media such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, outdoor or direct mail to new media such as websites and txt messages. As technology changes advertising reforms to better adapt to the way the technology is being used.
In the 50's it was simple enough a message and the name of the product. "The skin you love to touch - Woodbury Facial Soap" The ads would be seen in few places such as newspapers and printed pages. Radio's would be sponsored by one or maybe a few companies, brands etc. That company would in return have there name said at the end of the program. As people began to buy into advertising more and more companies realized people could easily be persuaded. As such advertising began to take it's form and appear more often in more places.
Today adverting is white meaning seen everywhere. With so much media, messages are often forgotten and not even bothered with. In so adverting has to be on the cutting edge of technology to have there message better recognized. Ads now have barcodes that you can scan with your blackberry, txt messages that are delivered to you as you pass a store, passwords that can be entered into websites. All in the name of purchase, action, and brand recognition. As a society we keep moving forward, keep building new ways, easier ways to do all the things we wanna do. And as such Advertising has to keep adapting and keep being at front of the line in technology with what it can do.

The Audi R8 is by far one of the most exotic cars. It brings a smile to my face like Hong Kong brings a smile to Denis's face. The ad campaign titled "The hostage" for the Audi R8 and is brilliant because in the same situation I would have the same reaction. The first ad is a heist that is about to go south for the thief until well you will see. Hilarious. The next ad was ran during the Super-bowl in 2008 and is clearly inspired by the famous Godfather scene. The man in bed is Alex Rocco, who played the part of Moe Greene in the original Godfather film.

The R8 is Germans equivalent to England's' Aston Martin which is a little better than the American Corvette ZR1. The cars base price starts at 140 000 so it is not for the faint of heart or wallet. With such a price when drawing up a campaign all you really need is a shot of the car. The car sells itself. In the commercial you don't need to go into detail. If a person is in pursuit of the car it is only for a special occasion purchase and the research of it's features will all be taken care of. As soon as I win the lottery clearly this is the first car I will pass you in.

Do Enjoy!!
